Rentals

Club Locarno members with Rowing Level 1, or greater, privileges may rent the Alden. The OarBoard requires a separate CheckOut before being rented. For both craft, you should have a reasonable amount of rowing experience with at least the Echos.

Availability

  • Rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis. Lessons, clinics and other club events have priority over individual rentals, so please check the calendar for scheduled events prior to renting.
  • A rental request may be declined if there are other club activities.
  • Members may not rent both craft simultaneously.
  • The Rowing Director must approve any rental request prior to the craft being taken off-site, meaning that your level of experience will be taken into account.

How to Book a Rental

  1. Email rowing@clublocarno.com with your preferred boat, dates, and a short trip summary. You must get confirmation from the Rowing Director before proceeding to step 2.
  2. We'll create a new rental event in Wild Apricot and send you the link. You can then register and pay for your rental.
  3. Sign out your boat as a Rental/Trip when you collect it from the club, and sign it back in when you return.

Important: To ensure your boat is available when you pick it up take it before sunrise on the first day of rental, or after sunset on the night before.

Boat Care: Please look after the boats in the same way as you do at the Club. When assembled, the boats are heavy, so have someone to help you when lifting them. If you do not have access to a dock, you MUST use wet launches and landings: i.e., no shimmying off the shore into the water and no beaching when landing.

Rental return: return all gear cleaned and in good condition. Replace all gear in the proper locations in the Kayak/Rowing shed (ropes and tie straps coiled and stored, etc.).

For the OarBoard, if you have deflated it for transport, you MUST reinflate the SUP, return it to its bay and lock it. The rigging unit and oars, paddles, etc., must be dismantled and stored in their tote. Do not forget to sign back in.

Transport: If you need to transport the craft on top of your car/truck., ensure you have suitable roof gear and know how to do a three-point tie down. If you have roof bars, it's pretty straight forward.

If you are at all unsure, please ask for a demo.

Damage: Report any damage. Renters are responsible for lose or damage of craft or equipment. Make sure you have appropriate insurance.

Conduct: Our boats bear the Club Locarno sticker proudly, so remember that your behaviour reflects on the Club. Know your capabilities and stay within your limits.
