Cross Fleet Exploration - Try out the Sailing Fleet

One of the best things about Club Locarno is the wide variety of fleets we have! Take this opportunity to expand your horizons and come and see what the Sailing Fleet has to offer. Our fleet includes many kinds of monohulls, catamarans, skiffs, and foiling boats. If you are a Locarno member, but haven't tried the Sailing Fleet, then this Cross Fleet Exploration event is for you! Even if you don't plan on joining this fleet, this is a great opportunity to see the other parts of our club that your membership fees support!

At this free event, you will get a hands-on feel of what the Sailing Fleet offers. No previous experience necessary. Possible (wind dependent) activities include:

• Coffee/treats, welcome, and introductions
• Look at the different kinds of boats we have
• Get a basic introduction to points of wind and how it is possible to sail upwind

• Get an introduction to what foiling is and how it works

• Try out hoisting a sail and steering with a tiller in hand
• Join a Sailing Fleet volunteer for a ride in the boat of your choice (we will rig as many bi-handed boats as we have skippers for).

What to Wear
Usually wetsuits are required for sailing. However, for this event we will make wetsuits optional. Keep in mind that even if it is a hot day, it is easy to get cold if the wind is high. You can rent wetsuits from Windsure on the east side of the JSCA compound. If you decide to sail without a wetsuit, our volunteers will keep the sail short and close to shore.
